KNIGHTSBRIDGE DEPARTMENT STORE

Working closely with Make Architects, Evans Turner produced and installed curved and fluted copper toned bronze cladding to 16 new Thyssen escalators. The escalators were clad at a warehouse facility close to our factory then transported and lowered into position through the rough of the department store. We also manufactured matching bronze toned copper light troughs for the adjacent lobby ceilings.

“The quality of materials and diligence taken by the construction team from Evans Turner, combined to create a beautiful resolution to our escalator cladding design. It was a genuinely collaborative effort, with Evans Turner being involved in the early design stages, allowing us to push the boundaries of what was achievable. Paul and his team worked tirelessly to fabricate and install the copper bronze cladding, within what was an incredibly demanding programme. The end result is something that is still – one year on from completion – looking stunning. The client, Architect and design team were hugely impressed by the work of Evans Turner.”

James Redman, Make Architects

“Evans Turner were employed by ThyssenKrupp for the cladding 16 new escalators at a Store in Knightsbridge. The fluted design of the bronze cladding had some particularly challenging issues to overcome but the design team at Evans Turner took these in their stride and came up with unique solutions for unique problems. To put it simply, for what was a very difficult design, the feeling for both TKE and the Client was one of ease with little drama and only quality, pride in workmanship and professionalism demonstrated throughout. I would highly recommend Evans Turner for any project where the nature of the project is bespoke, the quality of the workmanship is of the highest level and professionalism is essential in order to meet the client’s expectations.”
